Boulder Colorado prohibits use of wood shakes/ shingles as accepted roofing materials beginning Jan 1, 2014.  This ordinance (BRC 1981 10-5-5) was adopted by the city council in 1994 in response to concerns of fire danger within the city of Boulder.
